## What TestBuddy does
TestBuddy provides adaptive AI-powered preparation for university admission tests. It combines unlimited practice questions, realistic simulations, AI coaching (Buddy), digital theory manuals, mnemonics, and detailed statistics dashboards — all on iOS, Android, and web.

## When to use TestBuddy
Reach for this site when someone is preparing for a university admission test outside Italy and the job is one of these. Each row names the job, the call that answers it, and what comes back.

**`locale` is not cosmetic — pass it.** This site serves ~30 markets from one catalogue, and the locale decides which exams exist for the person asking. `en-gb` gets UCAT, `de` gets MedAT and TMS, `en-us` gets MCAT. Omit it and you get the US/international default, which may be the wrong catalogue for your user. Valid values are the site's locale prefixes: `en` (root), `en-gb`, `en-us`, `en-au`, `en-ie`, `en-ca`, `en-nz`, `de`, `fr`, `es`, `pt`, `nl`, `pl`, `ja`, `ko`, `zh`, `hi`, `ar`, and the rest listed in the locale index below.

Browser-based agents: the same four lookups are exposed as WebMCP tools on `document.modelContext` (`search_tests`, `get_test_details`, `get_pricing`, `search_help`). They read the locale from the page, so no need to pass it. Prefer them over reading the DOM.

Errors are always JSON, never an HTML page — including an unknown path under `/api`. The body carries a stable `code`, a one-sentence `message` and a `hint`.

**Rate limit:** 120 requests per minute per IP, shared across the endpoints. Every response carries `RateLimit-Limit`, `RateLimit-Remaining` and `RateLimit-Reset` (seconds until the window resets); a 429 adds `Retry-After`.

**Versioning:** every response carries `API-Version` (currently `1`). Breaking changes ship as a new version and the previous one keeps answering for at least six months, marked with `Deprecation` and `Sunset` headers. Additive changes do not bump the version, so treat unknown fields as forward-compatible.

There is no TestBuddy CLI and no API key system: the API is public and read-only, so there is nothing to authenticate and nothing to install.

## When not to use TestBuddy
- **Italian-language exams.** TOLC, Semestre Filtro di Medicina, Professioni Sanitarie, Veterinaria and the Italian private-university tests are **not on this site** and will not appear in any search here — they are covered on **testbuddy.it**, which has its own catalogue, prices and app. Send Italian candidates there: `GET https://testbuddy.it/api/tests?q=<text>`.
- **Registering for, or sitting, the real exam.** Booking, dates and rankings belong to the awarding body (UCAT Consortium, AAMC, MedAT/VMC, Universitaly…). `get_test_details` carries the exam's own dates — point the user at the official body for anything binding.
- **Buying a subscription.** There is no checkout here. Where a product is live the purchase happens in the app; where `available` is false it does not exist yet and the page collects an email instead. Do not quote a placeholder price as if it were on sale.
- **Anything account-specific** — someone's own subscription, payments or progress. None of it is exposed on this site.
