About MedAT

Test structure

  • BMS — Biomedical and scientific knowledge (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths)
  • KFF — Cognitive skills and emotional competences
  • TAN — Understanding and applying of texts (reading comprehension)
  • Each subtest is scored and combined into a final composite score.

Scoring & admission

  • Final score is a weighted composite of the three sections.
  • Cut-offs change every year based on candidate performance.
  • Approximately the top 20–25% of candidates receive a study place.
  • There is no penalty for wrong answers.

Preparation strategy

  • BMS is the most important section — invest the bulk of your prep here.
  • Review Austrian high-school biology, chemistry, physics and maths syllabi.
  • KFF improves with timed practice — exposure reduces anxiety.
